At Barnsley Community Gymnastics Academy (BCGA), we believe that big dreams are built on strong foundations. Right now, we’re working hard to lay the groundwork for something amazing.
In September, we’re excited to be launching our Lucky Duck Race fundraiser - a fun, family-friendly campaign with an important purpose: helping us raise the money we need for a brand new gymnasium equipment.
Why are we raising money?
As a registered charity, BCGA reinvests everything back into the club - from equipment and coach development to providing safe, inclusive spaces for young people across Barnsley to grow in confidence, fitness and community.
Some improvements however, like replacing our pit foam, or upgrading the rings for our growing boys squad, comes with a hefty price tag. That’s where you come in.
Each duck in our Lucky Duck Race costs just £1. That’s one pound that goes directly towards improving the gymnasium for all our members and thanks to matched funding from Sport England, every pound you raise will be doubled.
It’s a simple idea that will go a long way towards our goal of raising £10,000. The gymnast that manages to sell the most ducks will also win a £30 Milano voucher.

How does the ‘Lucky Duck Race’ work?
Ducks will be available from reception and our ‘challenge’ to sell the most ducks will officially begin on 1st September! Each duck comes in a little organza bag, making for a perfect lucky charm.
Gymnasts, parents and staff are encouraged to sell ducks to friends, family, neighbours and colleagues for £1 each. A leaderboard will be shared regularly on our digital channels so you can see who’s in the lead.
All participants have until Christmas to sell as many ducks as possible.
Why should you take part?
Fundraising campaigns like this one help to keep our mission alive - making gymnastics accessible, inclusive and inspiring for everyone in our community. It allows us to dream bigger, act on feedback and continue our development as a place where young people can thrive not just as gymnasts, but as confident, capable individuals.
Whether the funds raised go towards new equipment, improving existing facilities, or expanding opportunities for all ages and abilities, every pound gained helps us build something stronger together.
So, whether you buy a duck, sell a dozen, or share our campaign with your network, thank you. You’re not just supporting a fundraiser. You’re helping shape the future of a community club that means the world to so many, right here in Barnsley.
Let’s race!
